Every year the 2nd grade class at Bloomfield Elementary gets to go to the Indianapolis Zoo and spend the night with the dolphins. JR and I knew this was coming and decided a long time ago that he would go with the boys and I would go with the girls. The time had come and Cameron COULD NOT have been more excited! They had been talking about it for weeks at school and counting down the days. Almost everyday he would check the web cams at the zoo and see what the animals were doing. Several notes had come home with lots of instructions. Its a very organized field trip and almost every student has a parent go with them. Most drive behind, JR, being brave, rode the bus. Cameron rode the bus home from school as usual and met JR here at home. They finished up the last minute packing....one change of clothes, a toothbrush, and air mattress, pillows, a blanket, and snacks. When I came home from work to take them to school, Cameron was standing on the front porch BEAMING with excitement! I have never seem him so excited. I was excited for him!!! We loaded everyone up and went to the school. We dropped Dad and Cameron off and I drove away with 3 screaming children.
There were organized activities for the kids to do that evening at the zoo which kept them very busy. They were given a late night snack and then lights were out, promptly at 10:30. JR and the other parents said that the zoo staff were like security guards. They were very strict with the students AND parents when it came time to end the day. The next day they were up and at 'em pretty early. Started with breakfast and then off to see the animals. JR did a great job with the camera...I was pretty impressed with his photography(if only I blogged or scrapbooked animals LOL). I'm pretty sure a good time was had by all. Parents, teachers, and 2nd graders were back at the school by 2:30 and looked exhausted. A very memorable trip for Cameron. I'm so glad he got to go and now I can look forward to joining Ansley in a couple years.
